How Does the Design Process Work?
The first step in the construction of a wooden exhibition stand is design. At this stage, company officials and stand designers come together to determine the company’s needs, brand identity and goals for the exhibition. The design process usually includes the following steps:
- Discovery and Brief: The products or services that the company will exhibit at the fair are analyzed. The targeted stand size, desired sections (welcome counter, product display area, meeting room, etc.) are determined. The company’s corporate colors, logo and messages are noted to guide the design.
- 3D Design and Concept: The design team the receiveddevelops a concept in line with . A visual outline of the stand is created by 3D modeling in computer environment. On this model, details such as the general shape of the stand, heights, shelf and panel placements, lighting elements are shown. If necessary, several alternative concepts are prepared and the customer for approvalbrief presented to .
- Revision and Approval: Adjustments are made to the design based on customer feedback. For example, the use of space is optimized, the position of the company logo is changed or the desired changes in the color palette are applied. The design when the final version is approved by the customeris finalized .
- Technical Drawings: Technical drawings are prepared for the approved design. These drawings guide the workshop teams about the dimensions of the stand, the materials to be used and construction details. Electrical installation plans, lighting layouts and other infrastructure needs are also at this stagedetermined .
Production and Installation
After the design is completed, the production phase begins. The construction of a wooden exhibition stand is usually carried out by a specialized workshop team. The following steps are included in the production and installation stages:
- Material Cutting and Preparation: Wooden panels, profiles and other materials are cut in accordance with the technical drawings. Parts are prepared with millimeter precision using technologies such as . The cut parts are sanded and made ready for painting or coating.CNC machines
- Painting and Coating: According to the design, if necessarywooden surfaces are painted or laminated or foil coated . For example, a paint suitable for the colors of the company logo can be selected or lacquer varnish can be applied to increase durability. The painting process is one of the critical steps that determine the aesthetic appearance of the stand.
- Unit Assembly: The stand is pre-assembled as modular units in the workshop. The main sections such as wall panels, shelf systems, counters, etc. are assembled in the workshop and prepared in a way to allow fast installation in the fairground. Electrical components (lighting spots, sockets, screen connections) are assembled and tested for operability.
- Site Setup: On the fairground, the stand is assembled one or several days before the start of the fair. The professional assembly team assembles the modular units prepared in advance. The floor carpet or platform is laid, wall panels are erected, all structural elements are assembled. Necessary final adjustments are made and the stand is completely finished. Care is taken to ensure that the assembly is carried out in accordance with the rules and within the time frame set by the fairground.
- Dismantling After the Fair: When the fair is over, the the stand dismantling ofis again carefully done by the expert team. At this stage, parts are carefully separated, screws and connections are removed. All stand elements are properly packaged and prepared for storage.
How are Average Costs Determined?
The price of a wooden exhibition stand can vary significantly depending on multiple factors. The following elements should be taken into consideration when determining the average cost:
- Stand Size: As the square footage of the stand increases, the amount of material used and the labor time required also increase, which raises the cost. A 20 m² stand and a 50 m² double-story stand will have very different costs. Generally, while the cost per unit area may decrease slightly as the stand grows larger, the total amount still increases.
- Design Complexity: Original and detailed designs require more labor than plain, simple designs. Custom curved walls, panels with integrated LED screens, moving mechanisms, or special lighting effects are elements that raise the cost. In complex designs, both the effort put in by the design team and the difficulty of production increase, which grows the budget accordingly.
- Materials Used: In wooden stands, material choice can span a wide range. Chipboard (melamine-coated particleboard) can be more economical compared to solid wood or MDF. On the other hand, costs rise when materials such as MDF laminate, natural wood veneer, and high-quality paints and varnishes are used. Additionally, the use of glass, metal, digital screens, and special lighting systems in the stand also increases the total price.
To give an average cost range, small wooden stands with modular features can cost less per square meter, while fully custom-designed large wooden stands will have a higher cost per m². The most accurate approach is to determine your specific needs and request a quote from Anka Fuar Dizayn.
Does It Make Sense to Rent or Buy a Wooden Stand?
Some companies prefer to rent an exhibition stand instead of buying one. In the case of renting, the stand company offers the stand for use during an exhibition and takes it back at the end of the exhibition. Although the rental cost is lower than the production cost of the stand, you do not own the stand.
Renting can be advantageous for one-time exhibitions; however, companies that participate in fairs frequently and want to use the same stand in terms of corporate identity usually have wooden stands made and purchased.
Can Wooden Stands be Reused?
As Anka Fuar Dizayn, we mostly produce wooden fair stands for a company for one time only. In other words, the stand, which is specially designed and produced according to the needs of a company, is usually not used for another company or business after it is removed to the warehouse at the end of the fair. The main reason for this is that the design is unique to that company and the storage of the stand after dismantling is troublesome. However, with the right planning and maintenance, wooden stands can be reused.
